Venice Island
Recreation Center
Performing
Arts Venue
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

New Stage
Rigging, Fire Safety Curtain, Stage Draperies, and Concert Shell
This exciting new
project will bring a community oriented performing arts venue to the new Venice
Island Recreation Center, located in Schuylkill River near the Manayunk section of Philadelphia. It
is only one part of the larger Schuylkill River Project.
This new theatre complex will
be the new home base for the Performing
Arts Program run by the City
of Philadelphia’s Recreation Department and its summer camp program currently
housed in the
Annenberg Center on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
The theater will boast manual
counterweight and motorized rigging systems, state-of-the-art lighting and sound
systems, and carefully designed acoustics, including a full Concert Shell
system.
Scheu
Consulting Services, Inc. is working closely with Philadelphia architects Buell Kratzer Powell LTD,
and consultants The Lighting Practice, and
Metropolitan Acoustics to create
a flexible venue that will be used by local community groups to stage dance,
music, and other types of presentations.
As of December 2006, this
project is in the design development phase.
