Before starting Scheu Consulting Services in 2001, Mr. Scheu served for 12 years as a Project Manager and Systems and Equipment Designer at JR Clancy, Inc., one of the world’s foremost manufacturers and installers of stage equipment.  Mr. Scheu also served as Dealer Sales Manager and Project Manager during his first few years at the company. At JR Clancy, he directed the design, manufacture, and installation of stage machinery in hundreds of venues. His projects ranged from simple fire curtains in elementary schools to “heavyweight” rigging and adjustable acoustics in major regional Performing Arts Centers and Concert Halls.

Before he joined JR Clancy in 1989, he was the Special Events Manager at Syracuse University and the Production Manager at an IATSE Scene Shop based in Syracuse, NY. From 1980 to 1986, Mr. Scheu served as Technical Director and Production Stage Manager for the Indianapolis Opera, Opera Memphis, and the Syracuse Opera. He also provided the lighting design for many regional opera productions and supervised the construction, rental, and touring of opera scenery built by his company’s IATSE shop.

Prior to 1980, Mr. Scheu worked in New York City serving as an Assistant Scenic Designer, Production Electrician, and Production Stage Manager for such venues as The New York Shakespeare Festival, The Impossible Ragtime Theatre, The Harold Clurman Theatre, La Mama ETC, and the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park.
